Show Notes

John A. List is the Kenneth C. Griffin Distinguished Service Professor in Economics at the University of Chicago. John joined the UChicago faculty in 2005, and served as Chairman of the Department of Economics from 2012-2018. List was the first Chief Economist at Uber and the founder of its Ubernomics Team. Now he is the Chief Economist for Lyft.

We wanted to talk to John because of his new book, The Voltage Effect: How to Make Good Ideas Great and Great Ideas Scale, which just hit bookshelves. It identifies five measurable warning signs that a scalable idea must avoid, and offers proven strategies for preventing voltage drops and engineering voltage gains. It’s backed by decades of field research, so we're really excited to have him here today.
